Este tem sido um tema deixado de lado na vida de muitas das igrejas de hoje. Certamente, isto se dá por ser um assunto não muito agradável, mas também por uma influência da concepção católica e de suas filhas protestantes. Por outro lado, veremos tratar-se de um tema largamente abordado no Novo Testamento, esclarecendo a razão e propósitos dela, como também o modo de aplicá-la.

1. A palavra Disciplina tem a mesma raiz (origem) de Disciplinar (=ensinar).

a-      Não se trata apenas de “cortar um membro” – ela deve ter caráter corretivo sobre a vida do membro e da igreja (Mat. 18.15-17closeMatthew 18:15-17 If Your Brother Sins Against You 15 “If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. b-      Ela deve começar pelo ensino (ninguém deve ser excluído da igreja por algo que não tenha como saber ser errado). Ex: Como uma criancinha que ainda está por aprender as coisas mais básicas.

c-      Para algumas situações, mesmo que já tenha sido ministrado o ensinamento a respeito anteriormente, podemos observar que resta lugar ainda à exortação, antes que seja necessária uma atitude mais drástica por parte da igreja. Há uma imensa lista destes casos que podem ser observados ao longo do novo testamento (principalmente das cartas de Paulo).

d-     Finalmente, encontramos o recurso final do desligamento (exclusão), a fim de alcançarmos o propósito da disciplina que é o de levar o pecador ao arrependimento (1 Cor. 5.5close1 Corinthians 5:5 you are to deliver this man to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord. 2. Como já vimos nos textos lidos, o processo disciplinar de um membro pode variar conforme o tipo de problema e pecado praticado.

a- Problemas pessoais devem ser tratados primeiramente em particular, entre as partes envolvidas. Não havendo solução, uma nova conversação deve ser feita com o acompanhamento e mediação de irmãos espirituais e, em último recurso somente, deverá ser levado para a igreja julgar a questão (Mat. 18closeMatthew 18 Who Is the Greatest? 18:1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. b- Quando um irmão comete algum tipo de ato de ofensa geral, daqueles que possam ser considerados “pecados menores”, este deve ser acompanhado por irmãos espirituais, com propósito de ajudá-lo com o ensino e exortação (Gal. 6.1closeGalatians 6:1 Bear One Another's Burdens 6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Quando o membro perseverar no pecado, o caso deve ser levado em assembleia. Desta forma o amor estará sendo exercido devidamente. O pecador terá sido encaminhado em mansidão por aqueles que o assistiram e exortaram durante esse período e agora, pelo próprio testemunho destes, o pecado deverá ser tirado da igreja.

c- Questões graves como heresias, rebeldia, desonestidade, falsidade, promiscuidade, etc., devem ser apurados e levados à igreja.

3. Quais seriam os motivos bíblicos para a Disciplina exclusória?

a- Sem dúvida, a obstinação em continuar no pecado (seja qual for) é razão para a exclusão de um membro

b- O Andar desordenadamente, ou seja, a prática continua de atos que ferem os princípios de justiça, moral, idoneidade que o crente deve ter (II Tes. 3.6).

4. Resta, ainda, vermos como deve ser o procedimento da igreja para com o membro excluído. Muitos pensam que a disciplina consiste apenas em tirar o nome da pessoa do rol de membros, mas a Bíblia mostra que o que vem após a exclusão é muito importante para que se alcance o propósito da disciplina. Nunca é demais lembrar que o alvo da disciplina é a purificação da igreja e a recuperação do verdadeiro crente, ou uma conversão verdadeira se ele não for mesmo um convertido.

            I- A atitude para com o pecador rebelde:

            a) Alguns podem ficar com muita pena do disciplinado e sentirem-se tentados a suavizar seu sofrimento, dando-lhe um certo apoio. Isto pode fazer parecer que esses irmãos estejam do lado dele e contra a posição tomada pela igreja. É muito importante nessa hora deixar Deus agir na vida dele, como Pai que corrige seus filhos (Heb. 12.6-8closeHebrews 12:6-8 For the Lord disciplines the one he loves,

Isto faria o mesmo mal que ocorre quando em um lar dividido, o filho se refugia no apoio de um dos pais para escapar da correção do outro, ficando uma criança “sem-vergonha”.

            b) Devemos orar por ele (se vermos que ainda há esperança). Lembremos que até aquele que foi chamado “o Apóstolo do Amor” ensinou que há circunstancias em que não cabe mais oração pelo pecador (I João 5.16-17).

               c) Devemos nos apartar dele na medida necessária. Na maior parte dos casos, é preciso cortar a intimidade no convívio social o suficiente para que ele sinta que perdeu os privilégios da comunhão como membro do corpo. Para um crente verdadeiro, isto irá pesar muito em sua retomada de consciência e retorno à retidão em sua vida cristã (Mat. 18.17closeMatthew 18:17 17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. Não devemos ter receio em agir da forma que a Bíblia ensina, pensando que assim ele vai sentir-se ofendido. Ele deve sentir que para a igreja isto também é penoso, mas que é necessário. Observe as expressões: “considera-o como gentio e publicano”, “tirai-o dentre vós”, “vos aparteis dele” “notai o tal” e “não vos mistureis com ele” – Será que ainda resta alguma dúvida? Isto não quer dizer que vamos tratá-lo mal (veja o “não o tenhais por inimigo”).  Por outro lado, João cita casos em que será necessária uma atitude mais firme, quando alguém se desvia da doutrina e tenta “envenenar” outros com isto. Nesse caso, João nos ensina a sequer saudá-lo ou recebê-lo em casa (II João 9-11).

                  Um detalhe importante a observar é que, muitas vezes o disciplinado é alguém de nossa própria família. Isso requererá de nós muito mais sabedoria no agir, sabendo considerar a situação como um todo. Não vamos deixar de cumprir nosso papel dentro da família para com aquela pessoa mas, também, não iremos misturar isto com nossa relação de comunhão espiritual dentro da igreja.

             II- Atitude para com o pecador arrependido:

                  a) Antes de qualquer manifestação daquele irmão excluído em voltar, devemos estar atentos às atitudes dele. Normalmente, antes mesmo de pedir para voltar à comunhão da igreja, o crente já manifesta o seu arrependimento de maneira visível. Devemos estar atentos e, com cautela, observar seus “frutos de arrependimento”. Isto é, sua mudança de atitude em deixar os pecados que o levaram a afastar-se do Caminho de Deus. Não somente isto, mas poderemos observar o seu propósito em compensar o mal e consertar o erro cometido e também a sua tristeza e ansiedade em ser perdoado pela igreja e ser restaurado à comunhão com ela.

               b) Devemos deixar claro o que a igreja espera dele e orientá-lo a como fazer isso. É claro que também devemos dar-lhe oportunidade para isso, uma vez que é notório que o processo de restauração de um crente é extremamente dificultoso. É importante não pularmos etapas, precipitando as coisas. Ou seja, promovendo seu pedido de reconciliação sem que esteja manifesto seu real arrependimento ou sem que as atitudes necessárias tenham sido tomadas por ele.

                  c) Assim que ele manifestar seu arrependimento, devemos tratar logo o caso, não sendo insensíveis a ele (caso de Corinto). Porém, o perdão e a reconciliação somente devem acontecer mediante condições claras daquilo que aconteceu e do sentimento e atitudes recentes do irmão excluído. Devemos lembrar que, uma vez tratado o caso e concedido o perdão, aquilo deve ser um assunto esquecido (fica mesmo para traz). Caso haja dúvidas, é melhor aguardar para que ocorra a reconciliação do membro no rol da igreja até que haja convicção de ambas as partes (da igreja, que ele esteja mesmo arrependido e dele que a igreja realmente o perdoou).

d) Precisamos consolá-lo e animá-lo em seu retorno, para que ele encontre forças no seu duro “recomeço” e seja totalmente restaurado.

 

Agindo dessa forma, estaremos contribuindo para que “haja temor em toda a igreja” (Atos 5.11) e assim o Nome do Senhor não seja blasfemado pelo mau testemunho dos membros da igreja. O zelo para com a disciplina é deixado de lado por muitos que não admitem baixar número de membros e assim fazem de tudo para mantê-los de qualquer maneira arrolados à igreja. No entanto, vemos que a lógica dos homens não é a mesma de Deus. Essa falta de zelo demonstrada na igreja de Corinto é condenada por Paulo quando ele diz em 1 Cor. 5.2close1 Corinthians 5:2 And you are arrogant! Ought you not rather to mourn? (ESV) , que eles estavam ensoberbecidos (ou inchados). O que a igreja precisa, não é esse “inchaço, mas sim o verdadeiro e sadio crescimento promovido por Deus (Atos 5.14)”.
